Unable to uninstall Office 365 free trial.

Original title: Uninstalling a free trial of office.

I can't uninstall a microsoft free trial for office.  I have tried the 'fix it' button, but when I have downloaded it, it won't run and says it cannot diagnose the problem.  Any answers?

Hello Fiona,

Greetings! Welcome to the Microsoft Office Community and thank you for posting your issue. I understand that you're unable to uninstall Office 365 trial.

I know how this concerns you, let me assist you to resolve this issue.

Are you working on Windows 64 bit or 32 bit?

If you're working on Windows 64 bit, first save the 'Fix it' and then try running it.

If it still doesn't help, you may manually uninstall the Office suite to remove any existing remains of Office 365.
Refer to the section 'Remove Office manually' in the following article:

Hope the above information helps. Take your time to try the suggestion and let me know the results at your earliest convenience.

Hi - I have the same issue.  I'm trying to install Office 265 as I've decided to subscribe but when I install it says I need to uninstall previous components.  They aren't listed in the programs list and when I use the Fix It tool it asks for the passkey from my support professional.

Hello Claire,

I would require more information about the issue to assist you better.

From where are you trying to run the 'Fix it'? Usually running 'Fix it' from KB 2739501
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501)
doesn't prompt you to enter passkey.

What are you exactly prompted to enter (post back the complete prompt)?

If you're unable to run 'Fix it', manually uninstall the Office suite.

Refer to the section 'Remove Office manually' in the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Note: Ensure to backup registry before deleting and registry entries.

Hope it helps. Reply with the result and I'll be glad to further assist you.

Thank You.

My user account is not set up as an administrator but I have made one if needed.

Now set myself as administrator but still get same prompt.

When I re-download and try to install Office365 there is now no message, it just doesn't seem to run.

It hasn't installed as only one of my devices shows as having installed on my Office 365 dashboard

I'm using 64 bit W8.1

I did have a trial version before that I installed.  I now want to buy, but it set up as another month trial.  Once it is set up correctly I'll subscribe.  Might there be some conflict due to the previous trial?

I got a similar error from Fix It...

I found out through trial and error, that Office 365 creates an account in OneNote that stays connnected even when you uninstall Office. I found that out when I clicked on OneNote and it opened up and still worked even though I had uninstalled the rest of Office. It then asked me if I wanted to save my "work" to the attached MS account. Once I signed out of that account, re ran Fix It, the error was gone. Fix It ran for nearly an hour but completed and after a reboot. Office was gone...

Look around and see if you have OneNote still installed. Hope this helps....
