Hello Abigail'

Uninstall all instances of Office on your computer--use the MS FixIts here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Restart twice.

Now install Office using the discs or download files and product key that came with the discs or download files.  Activate online normally.  Let us know if it worked for you.

Try installing  windows clean boot mode  and check if this helps. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting reset the computer to start as usual.

If you are able to install the Office in clean boot mode, this might be due to a Non- Microsoft service.
