gfx.dll file missing error when starting word or excel

I uninstalled Windows Live Essentials yesterday because I dont use any of it.  Now when I try to start my Word or Excel I get an error saying gfx.dll is missing and they wont run.  I tried to do a system restore, but my hard drive was replaced recently and the restore options were never turned on, so I dont have a restore point to use.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office but that didnt work either...

Hi,

1.     Does this issue occur only while opening Word or Excel?

2.     What is the make and model of your computer?

Method 1

GFX error is related to your graphics card, I would suggest you to update the latest drivers for graphics from the manufacturer’s website.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

Method 2

You may try to re-register gfx.dll and then check.

a.     Click Start.

b.    In the search box type cmd

c.     Right click cmd and select Run as Administrator.

d.    Type regsvr32 gfx.dll and press ENTER.

Another solution is to repair the installation of Office Starter:

Thanks...
