Error 1935 installing Office 2010 on Vista

I have been trying for the last 3 days to get Office 2010 installed. I have been through multiple forums and multiple gyrations of changes and still get the 1935 error. I have tried installing from disk and from download. There is no support from Microsoft without paying additional and why should that even be necessary. I cannot get the product number because it does not install. I already had .net 1.1 and 3.5 SP1 installed.

I have made the following changes and after each change made an attempt to upgrade or install the product.

Office 2007 was installed so my first attempt was to do the upgrade. failure

I confirmed that all Office products were not running. failure

I went into task manager and stopped every non-essential process. failure

I went into services and stopped everything that I did not need. failure

I reluctantly uninstalled Office 2007 to make sure no Office products were running. failure

A forum talked about repairing .net so I did. failure

All maintenance to Vista and all other components was installed. failure

A forum mentioned installing .net 4. failure

A forum mentioned uninstalling .net 4. failure

A forum mentioned using CCleaner to clean up the registry. failure

A forum mentioned disabling any antivirus product, I do not have one installed. no help.

I found a 'fix it' that removes Office products. failure

Uninstalled .net 1.1. failure

I ran the custom install instead of the regular install. failure

I tried to install one component at a time. failure

I have reached my maximum frustration level.

Download .Net Cleanup Utility from only this link:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx

Using the Cleanup Tool, uninstall .Net Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0. 3.0 and 3.5 (The cleanup tool won’t allow you to remove the .NET Framework 2.0 on Vista and higher because it is installed as an OS component.)

Restart the computer

Download the following components:

.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (this will also install .Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2)

.Net Framework 1.1

.Net Framework 1.1 SP1

.Net Framework 3.5 SP1:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en

.Net Framework 1.1 :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3

.Net Framework 1.1 SP1 :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en

Install the downloaded updates in this order (the order is very important):

.Net Framework 3.5 SP1

.Net Framework 1.1

.Net Framework 1.1 SP1

Restart the computer and try installing Office

Answer

I had the same problem while trying to install Office 2010, Home & Student , full version.

I spent a few hours with microsoft ingeniers this morning with no success.

I did the following things and in this order:

1.- Repaired .net framework  (didn´t worked)

2.- Desinstalled .net , downloaded and installed it again (.net framework ver 4.0 since I use Win7)

3.- Installed RegistryBooster 6.4.3.2 and cleared old registers (I still had some junk from office 2007)  (still did not work)

4.- Using msconfig.exe , I enabled "windows update" and "windows installer" services. I read Windows Installer service is importante for some programs installation.

5.- Retarted and installed office 2010 again.

After all this , it finally worked!

Hope this help other with the same problem.
