Why is Office 2010 Starter using Q drive & alternatives to stop it using Q drive
I have purchased a HP DV6 Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium. I installed Office 2010 Starter, and now Q: drive is unavailable, when it was a network drive letter before. Please note that I am aware of Microsoft's brilliant decision to allocate Q: drive
as its (and no-one else's) Virtual Drive to install briefly from, but then to retain forever. I am looking for alternative options, and if need be will uninstall Office 2010 Starter and never purchase or run anything from Microsoft.
Office Starter is preinstalled by the PC maker, there is no download available from MS, nore can you purchase Office Starter
Office Starter uses the virtual Q drive, which cannot be accessed by the end user, nor can you change this.
If you want the std MS Office type of installation you will have to purchase the version you require.
As it is you havent purrchased anything from MS, you purchased from HP which contained a preinstalled version of Win and Office Starter, all of which is supported by HP, and not MS.
(BTW MS is in the process of withdrawing Office Starter as a preinstalled option when you purchase a new PC)
