Office 2016 for Mac Constantly Crashing after Sleep

I've just upgraded to Office 2016 for Mac, expecting that all the crashing issues that plagued its release last year would be sorted by now.

It appears not!!!

I'm running Office 15.19.1 in El Capitan 10.11.3 and all the apps are constantly crashing - especially when waking from sleep.  It must crash over 10 times an hour.  How can this continue to be a problem??

I've read so many posts of people having similar problems that have been unable to resolve them by:

  • uninstalling and reinstalling Office
  • not using Outlook
  • stepping OSX back to Yosemite
  • disk health checking in Disc Utility (scraping the barrel of ideas for such a widespread problem)
  • various other things.

What the **** are we supposed to do and why aren't Microsoft or Apple saying anything about this???  I'm paying money for this product and it's not working!!!!!!

Any suggestions????

Thanks for your feedback.

Microsoft and Apple generally don't talk much about crashes. Of course they don't like them and want to get rid of all of them, but sometimes tracking them down is difficult.

Be sure to send the crash report in every time there is a crash. You can use the Smile button in Office apps to report the problem to Microsoft. Generally, they won't contact you but it never hurts to include your contact information just in case.

I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. "Independent Advisors" work for contractors hired by Microsoft. "Microsoft Agents" work for Microsoft Support.

Thanks all for the advice.

I'm afraid my problems are only getting worse.

I bailed out on Office 2016 and uninstalled, reinstalling Office 2011 - but I'm still crashing almost constantly and it's infuriating!!  I've got so much work to do and I'm totally unproductive.

I've tried getting in touch with Microsoft by phone and online chat and they're no use at all.  They can't remote log in to my computer.

I had tried submitting my complaints using the smiley face in Word 2016 but the application crashed whilst I was typing and I wasn't able to upload my crash report anywhere on that screen.

Here's as much of my crash report as I can upload.  Please help me!!  Is there anywhere else I can get help in person from Microsoft.

Thanks for your feedback.

I am having the same problem. However, only for OutLook.

Whenever my Mac - El Capitan - has been on sleep, OutLook crashes when the Mac wakes up.

And also if I am not on the company network, OutLook crashes when I connect via VPN - or disconnect VPN

Office and El Capitan are both up-to-date with the latest updates.

I have deleted my account and all files related to OutLook several times - nothing helped!
