No option to set AutoFill default.
e.g. I want default should be 'Copy Cells' instead of 'Fill Series'

Don't really know what you mean but if it is additional functionality you want then the following link to UserVoice is for suggestions.

Hi @OssieMac

Thank you but no this is not a new functionality. I have uploaded the steps and which exactly what I meant.

So when you double click on corner of a cell and it has numbers in the end so by default it Fills Series so I wanted to set it as Copy Cells.

thanks

Hi Sumeet,

When we select a single cell that contains text only, then drag the Fill Handle, the default behavior is to copy.

When the cell contains a date, or text or text with a number at the end (e.g. 123 Main Street), the default is to fill the series.

To override either behavior, press the Ctrl key as you drag the Fill Handle.

Thanks,

Neha

Hi Neha

Thank you for the suggestion. This I already know.

My question was if we can change the default on AutoFill to what I need.

Thanks

Sumeet

+ Ctrl+Drag won't do if I'm using the function on 1000+ rows

Based on your original question and your following statement in a later reply "My question was if we can change the default on AutoFill to what I need", I am interpreting that you are asking for additional functionality in that you want to be able to set your own default for the AutoFill functionality instead of having to select the required feature each time you use it.

Hi Sumeet,

As I mentioned earlier, when the cell contains a date, or text or text with a number, the default is to fill the series and if we select a cell containing text, the default changes to copy, this behavior can’t be changed.

Since you are asking for additional feature, I’ll suggest you follow OssieMac’s advice and submit the feature request in Excel UserVoice. UserVoice is the best way to give the feedback to Product Group as it actively monitored by them and many new features have been implemented from our customers feedback.

We appreciate your understating.

Regards,

Neha
