Multiple series error bars

In old excel, I could select an X by Y set of data and a corresponding X by Y set of error.  Excel 2007 wants me do to each series separately.   I have many series and do not want to do one at a time.  How do I do them all at once.

I saw that article previous to my post.  It does NOT answer my question. It just states that you  choose each series independently.

I'm asking if you can do ALL series at once, like in previous excels.

Hi,

I tried adding error bars by selecting the legend and it added to all series.
Can you try that as well.

- Select the chart legend (which contains all series)
- Chart Tools > Layout > Error Bars
- Select the required error bar e.g. I selected Err Bars with SD

In case you go for "more error bars options" then it will ask for series. In that case you can use below macro which will error bars to all series:

'---Select the chart before running this macro
Sub Add_Vertical_ErrorBars_For_All_Series()
Dim ser
For Each ser In ActiveChart.SeriesCollection
ser.HasErrorBars = True
Next
End Sub

Hi Amit,

  This works if you want to use excel to calculate the error.  I have already done this.  I want to apply an x by y set of error, i.e. customized error to my plot.

Does no one remember doing this in excel previous to 2007?

Sorry if I didn't got your problem completely!

Until somebody jumps in, you can check Daniel's XL Toolbox which helps in creating custom error bars...

You may also try posting your problem on Jon's blog, he is quite quick on getting back on the problems:

Hi

I am trying to do the same thing and do remember being able to do this in previous versions.  Did you ever get an answer that solved this problem?

Many thanks
