Can't open hyperlink to PDF in Excel 2010 and Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0

Client compuer is Windows XP SP3 running Office 2010 Standard.  The problem computer has Adobe Reader 9.2 and Adobe Acrobot Standard 7.0 installed.  If the user opens and Excel file that has hyperlinkds to PDF files it opens Adobe Acrobot Standard 7.0 for a split second then closes.  I've tried changing the file type PDF to open in Adobe Reader and that works if I browse to the file and open it but it does not work from Excel.  Excel still tries to open the PDF in Adobe Acrobot Standard 7.0.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Create a new test Excel file with hyperlinks to PDF files, click the hyperlink and verify the status. If it happens with the new test Excel file as well then ensure that the file association to open PDF file type is set to Adobe Reader or recreate the file association.

Thanks for the reply.  I've tried all those things already.  The only way I could get it to work was to not have Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0 installed.  The user needs Acrobat to do their job.
