How to get Excel Cell with Text to Span Multiple Columns

I am trying to format a Excel 2010 Worksheet.

I have one Cell with Text that I want to Span Multiple (3) Columns.

I don't think that I want the Text just to spill over into adjacent columns, because I want to Center the Text in the 3 Column space.

How do I do this?

Answer

Merging cells is usually a last resort, due to the problems merged cells cause with sorting and various other activities.

You should be able to use Center_across_columns to get the effect you want.
• Select your text cell and the 2 adjacent cells to the right of it
• CTRL+1...to open the formatting dialog
• On the Alignment Tab
...Horizontal: Center across columns

Is that something you can work with?
