could not set CurLine Property

Trying to run new version of an Excel program called VITAL (a tool to calculate food allergens) using Excel for Mac Ver 14.2.2 (120421).

The following error message appears when executing:

Run-time error 2147483640 (80000008)
Could not set CurLine Property. Unspecified error.

This means nothing to me. Other people are apparently using the application, so is this a quirk of my installation of Excel or the Excel version or what? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. I just checked the site that I downloaded the file and it has versions for MS Excel 97-2003 and MS Excel 2007 and above - no mention of Mac versions. I downloaded the 2007 and above version, which does not seem to work in Excel 2011 v14.2.2. (The link is http://www.allergenbureau.net/vital/vital-downloads for anyone who may be interested)

I think I'll contact the Allergen Bureau that has developed the tool to see if they know whether it should work in the Excel for Mac version I am using.
