Question

Q: Sort Dialog Box Defaults

When Using the sort dialog box to sort an excel spreadsheet, the sort order defaults to "Smallest to Largest". With a large spreadsheet that needs sorting to clean up data, this becomes a colossal waste of time to always have to change the sort order. How do I change Excel so the default is "Largest to Smallest" ?

There is no setting or Preference for specifying a Default sort order. If you'd care to fully describe your need perhaps someone can provide useful suggestions...

  • How many fields need to be used as sort keys?
  • Do any special sort features need to be used?
  • Is it the same fields & same order used every time?
  • Is it a specific workbook or several?
  • What else needs to be taken into consideration?
Please mark HELPFUL or ANSWERED as appropriate to keep list as clean as possible ☺

Bob J.

Is the data the result of a query?
