Account Notice warning when using Office 365, but don't see any thing wrong.

I get the following banner on any office program I open:

ACCOUNT NOTICE  We've run into a problem with your Office 365 subscription, and we need your help to fix it.  [Reactivate]

Thing is, when I click on the [Reactivate] button, nothing appears wrong.  The installation is there with my computer's name and the word "Installed" and the option to deactivate it.

My credit card information is up to date and I have not received any billing error enails.

I cannot find any kind of indicator (highlighted text, exclamation point, etc)  To show what the problem is.

Can anyone help me get rid of this banner?  I'm afraid Office will suddenly stop working and I rely on it heavily for work (the subscription is not provided or paid for by my employer).

I found a solution!

A. Run C:\program files <x86>\Microsoft office\office16>cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

B. Make note of value for “Last 5 characters of installed product key”

C. Run C:\program files <x86>\Microsoft office\office16>cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:XXXXX

Try it!

Answer

Hello Joe,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

Let me assist you with Office applications?

Was there any recent updates installed on the computer?

You may try to open Office application in administrator mode and then try to reactivate it and check if it works as expected.

Browse to the following location.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClentX86\Root\Office15. (Windows 32 bit).

C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office 15\ ClientX64\Root\Office15. (Windows 64 bit).

Look for Word or Excel.exe files, right click on the file and click on ‘Run as administrator’ and then try to activate Office suite and verify the status.

I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
