Runtime Error 13 Access 2010

I am getting a Run-time error '13': Type Mismatch in Access 2010. It happened when I was applying a filter to search my database for a particular record. I know nothing about Visual Basic or the inner workings of Access. A friend wrote a program within Access for me to use for business expense record keeping. I am clueless about how to fix this problem and worry about creating more problems within the programming he did years ago. I have an urgent need to resolve this so I can get my taxes done this week. How do I fix it? Thanks!

The error means that you are comparing one datatype with a different datatype.

Check the filter you applied. You are probably comparing two different datatypes

Hope this helps,
