You are not singed in to Office with an account the has permission to open this workbook.

Hi

My user is getting this error when trying to open a file.

Apparently this file was locked by the colleague who had already left the company.
so now they are unable to request for permission or add account to the file.

is there any way around this?

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Support community.

If the person used a company mail. Contact IT Dept and they can use the Admin Portal to reset the password of the user and log in to grant permission or remove permission.

If the person used a personal Email, then there is nothing we can do.

Hi,

I had checked in the active directory and this user's account was already removed from the AD. So in this case, there is no account to activate back, hence there is no other way we can still access that file anymore. Correct?
