Word Mobile App microphone is in the way

So I use Word on my android phone and though I like the option of being able to talk and write the placement of the microphone button to activate it is annoying and blocks me at time when writing.

As you can see in the screenshot, the cursor goes behind the button and I have no clue what I'm typing. You can't scroll passed it.

Is there a way to hide this button please?

Hi Sara,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm Adie, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to help you out.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Unfortunately, there seems to be no option to hide the dictate button on Word for Android. As a fellow user, I agree that having a feature that allows you to hide/unhide that button is a great idea. This issue has already been posted on the User Voice page. https://word.uservoice.com/forums/304954-word-f.... You may vote for it and leave your suggestion in the comment section. That way, they may review your ideas to consider in the design and development of future product updates.

Also, you can send your feedback directly within the Word app. Just go to Settings, scroll down towards the bottom and select Send Feedback.

I appreciate your kind understanding and patience.

Best regards,
Adie

Hi Sara,

Please find below, the steps to hide it

  1. When any file is open in edit mode, select the more options (three dots) from top right corner of the app

  2. Swipe to see the Dictate option, with a toggle switch.

  3. Turn off the switch

  4. And the Mic button can be seen hidden

  5. It can be turned on from the same place as required.

Hope the solution helps.

Thanks

Dheeraj
