Word embedding issue

After installing latest Office updates, embedding files to Word document does not work anymore as expected. Embedded file icons are generic, instead of real ones. Problem can be re-produced this way: open Word document > click Insert > Object > Create from File > browse any document (pdf, excel etc..) > click Display as icon. Icon is generic, not the one it should be. Has anyone else seen this problem or do you know if Microsoft is aware of this? Does anyone has any workaround for this issue?

Hi Juha,

We appreciate that you posted back  and shared the information with us again.

According to the screenshot you provided, it seems that you are using the same version with our, and the situation we described above is consistent with yours.

We have tested again with the latest version of Word, and we embedded the other files and we still can reproduce the same situation as yours. Given this situation, I do understand the inconvenience it has made and apologize for it.

We understand the inconvenience caused by it. To address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you go to Word UserVoice to provide your feedback. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others. Or you can also provide feedback to our related team by clicking on the Smiley Face button inside Word. This feedback will directly go to them so that our related team can hear your voice on this feature directly.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Sukie
