[Word 365] Whole document becomes blurry when scrolling

I've been recently having an issue with MS Word 365 - the whole document goes gray and blurry when scrolling and takes ~ 5 seconds worth of clicking the page, zooming in/out etc. to resolve it. It's obviously not the end of the world, but it is highly annoying when trying to edit a document. Attached is an image of the problem.

I'm currently running Windows 10 with up to date drivers. I've tried disabling subpixel positioning in the options menu, but that doesn't seem to help.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi I am Shakiru, an independent advisor and a user like you, and I am glad to be helping you out today. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with a display issue in Microsoft Word 365. I'm sorry, but do you experience this in other applications or only in Word? Here are some possible solutions that you can try: * Disable add-ins: Go to File > Options > Add-ins, and then disable any add-ins that you are not using. * Try to Change display settings: Go to Control Panel > Display > Change display settings, and then try changing the resolution, scaling, or orientation of your display. See if this resolves the issue. * Repair Office: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, and then select Microsoft Office. Click on "Change" and then select "Repair" to repair the Office installation. Kindly let me know, if you require additional assistance, I will be glad to help further. Best Regards, Shakiru

Hi Shakiru,

Thanks for the reply. I've just tried disabling all add-ins, changing my resolution and scaling, and I've repaired Word but the problem still seems to persist:

It appears to be something 'Word' specific, as I've not had this happen with Excel, Powerpoint etc. and I haven't had any issues with any other programs being blurry. It's a bit strange that it only blurs the document, not the toolbar, side bar or status bar. It could possibly be Word attempting to offload pages or blur them when scrolling in an attempt to save resources - I'm definitely not sure though.

When I have time I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling Office and see if that helps.

Thanks again for the reply.

Hello A_friendly_robot, I figured out this issue may occur due to an MS Office 365 bug that arises when you use two finger scrolling on your touchpad (it has been observed on both Lenovo and Microsoft Surface devices running updated versions of Windows 11 and Office 365). A workaround I have discovered is to disable "Drag two fingers to scroll" on the touchpad (in system settings/Bluetooth & Devices/Touchpad/Scroll & Zoom). More in this thread:
