Word 2016 activation on a mac

Hello everyone !

I am on a mac OS 10.10.5.

I have just bought word 2016, and installed it.

When I try to open it, I have a first popup window that displays everything new, then I click on the 'let's start' button (in french) and a second window pops up to activate word.

I click on the activate button and then word freezes. I have to force quit word as the pop up window stays in the front and the whole soft is frozen.
What should I do ?

thanks.

I tried to run the script ActivationTroubleShooter provided by MS but it only reboots the same procedure which is first popup window, then second, then everything freezes.

Hi FrançoisTE,

Based on your description, can you please try pressing Enter after you input the account?

If the problem persists, can you please help us confirm some information below?

  1. Where did download the Office, from Office 365 portal or other places?
  2. What’s your Office 365 subscriptions?

Besides, I’d like to collect your tenant information for investigation. To protect your privacy, I have sent you a private message asking for the information. You can go to this link to access to the PM.

And can you please share a screenshot of the problem?

Thanks,

Cherry

In addition to Pings advice.

A Year or so ago Office 2016/365 had an issue with only being activating using the United States as it home Country use of any other country would cause all sorts of problems. Once activated you could switch back to your region/country of origin (where you live) and would work fine.

This problem should have been addressed ages ago. So it may not be the problem But here are the steps.

Image

  1. 1. Go to  menu
  2. 2 Preferences.
  3. Language and Region.
  4. Click on Region item #1
  5. Set region to the United States.
First, you will see  4 Regions each has a "Flippy" Triangle,
choose the country by click on the triangle and choose Country from List.
  6. Now in step #2, choose English as your language.
  7. Close Preferences.
  8. Now open Office and try activation.
  9. If Office 2016 works after activation, quit Office.
  10. Go back to Langauge and reverse the steps.
By that I mean Choose the Region and Country you currently live
  11. Choose your desired  Language.
  12. Now you can go to Step #3 and set measurement system
to that used for the country, you live.

Once Activation is achieved you should not have to repeat these steps, only sign in using username and  password you used to purchase 365/2016

Hi FrançoisTE,

Thanks for your update.

From the PM, you sent the product key in your email, we found that you use the Office for consumer plan.

Given the situation, we are going to move the case to Office>Install, upgrade and activate>Mac>Office 365 home to handle this case properly. Guys there will continuing support you.

Regards,

Cherry
