Word 2013: How do I insert double quote marks?

Whenever I press the shift key + the double quotes key to insert double quote marks nothing happens. When I press those keys again I get four quote marks - one set of opening ones and one set of closing ones. Is there a new command for double quotes in Word 2013?
Answer
Answer

This is not a Word setting, but a Windows setting for your keyboard.

The keyboard has probably been set to US International.

  1. Activate Control Panel.
  2. Under Clock, Language and Region, click Change input method.
  3. Click Options to the right of your language.
  4. If United States is listed, select it.
  5. Otherwise, click Add an input method, then select United States.
  6. Click OK.
