Why is so hard to find and download useable MS icons or get MS to pre-load into Visio?

2016 Visio shapes are completely outdated, and I am trying to create stencils that align with the new MS branding for 365. I have followed all MS links and found different repositories with icons but they are incomplete and the images useless without third-part solutions.

1. Why does MS not have one repository where every icon is available? Why make people dig for something so standard? I have found Iconography and M365 Banding kits in different locations throughout the site but hard to tell if I have found them all as there are still missing icons in those libraries.

2. Why does MS not provide .jpg or .png? Vector and PDFs are provided but they are barley functional with MS products as it is, my leadership will not approve the use of third party solutions to convert images, and really we shouldn't have to.

It makes no sense MS would not provide a central library for all icons with multiple file types, if not multipple at least provide file types that work well with MS. Please stop with vector and PDFs they are not friendly with MS products.

Dear respected,

I understand your frustration with finding and downloading usable Microsoft icons and the challenges with outdated Visio shapes. To make sure your valuable feedback and get informed by the related Visio 365 product development team and engineers, kindly use the in-app feedback channel and collected user reports will be checked by the product team 24/7 and will improve the common concerns from end users in the coming Visio updates.

As a community moderator, I have tried to search several repositories and resources within Microsoft that you can explore for icons, for your reference:

  1. Azure icons - Azure Architecture Center | Microsoft Learn

  2. Office 365 Downloadable Icons | Microsoft Community Hub

  3. Fluent UI - Styles - React - M365 Product Icons

  4. GitHub - microsoft/fluentui-system-icons: Fluent System Icons are a collection of familiar, friendly and modern icons from Microsoft.

The preference for vector and PDF formats is likely due to their scalability and quality. However, I understand the necessary demand for more user-friendly formats like .jpg or .png. The workaround is to use tools like PowerPoint to convert vector images to .jpg or .png formats. Simply insert the vector image into a PowerPoint slide, right-click on the image, and select "Save as Picture" to choose your desired format.

Please correct me if I made any misunderstanding or if there have anything else I can do for you.

Your patience is highly appreciated. Hope you having a nice day and wish you a brilliant year ahead as well😊.

Sincerely,

Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
