VBA issues with new forum editor

Hello everyone!

As you have already noticed, we have had a new forum editor since February 2021. Unfortunately, it still has some bugs, the engineering team is already working on eliminating them.

The biggest problem are VBA codes:

  • If you post a code here all blank lines are gone
  • They look different as in your VBA editor if you post them here and/or
  • If you copy a VBA code into your editor it might not work and shows red lines which means syntax errors.
    The issue are automatically inserted blank lines, you must remove them to make the VBA code work.

That is a pain if you have to do it manually, you can use this file to automate that step:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5w97kpqjdpz4hu6/5081b294-7ea7-4a86-870f-6b2834a0653b.xlsm?dl=1

After downloading you have to unblock that file, have a look here if you don't know how to do that:
Unblock File in Windows 10 | Tutorials

If you open the file you see just one button which executes this code:

Sub RemoveDoubleLineBreaks()
  Dim objDataObj As Object
  Dim S As String
  Dim Data
  Set objDataObj = CreateObject("New:{1C3B4210-F441-11CE-B9EA-00AA006B1A69}")
  objDataObj.GetFromClipboard
  S = objDataObj.GetText(1)
  S = Replace(S, vbCrLf & vbCrLf, vbCrLf)
  S = Replace(S, Chr(160), vbNullString)
  objDataObj.SetText S
  objDataObj.PutInClipboard
End Sub

How to use that?

Select the VBA code from your post and copy.
Switch to my file and click the button. (There is no message at the end and it executes faster then a blink of your eye.)

Switch to your file, open the VBA editor and paste.

That's it.

To all programmers in here:

Avoid to break lines using the underscore in the interim.
The line indentation is visible in the editor, but is unfortunately lost as soon as you have posted a code.

Andreas.

Re: forum formatting

Also...
Put page numbers at the top of each forum page.
(they are just at the bottom now)

Give us six months (now 3) before locking posts.

Adjusting picture sizes down to where they are too small to read is excessive.
Some users post enormous pictures and those do need resizing.
One used to be able to resize images when making a post, that should return.

The MS forum that really needs work is...
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/topics/office-vba-dev.html
It is simply awful. I could write a book.

+1 I've been asking for that for a long time. It is a pita having to scroll down to the bottom to move to another page.

I have good news for you, in the new editor you can paste a picture from the clipboard in here.

And you can resize it using your mouse, drag the hot area at the bottom right of the picture.

Unfortunately the resizing is lost in Firefox, the team knows about the issue and works on a solution.
We have to be a little patient, I'm sure it'll be great when the team is done.

The image size problem is apparently limited to FireFox. This other question has a java code fix for it. You use the java to create a "bookmarklet" that you click on to fix the problem after resizing an image.

In theory, the developers will fix this problem, eventually.

Hi,

Not sure if if this is related.

But I have form created in sharepoint(Modern) (not O365 form) since 08/03 text in the selectable drop down box is not formatted correctly.

I have to revert back to basic design.

Is this a known issue?
