Using MS Word to publish to Google's Blogger

I have Microsoft 365. I want to use Word's Blog Post template to publish blog content to Google's Blogger. In the template for registering a New Blog Account, I select 'Other' for the blog provider. I then fill out the required information. I get a message "Word cannot register your account." Where do I go from there? I can't find any help googling, and Microsoft phone support has referred me to this Community. If there is something I need to do at the Blogger end first (other than, obviously, have created the blog in the first place, which I have), I am not knowledgeable enough about Blogger to know what that is.

Thank you for the link to the Blogger support site. The recommended answer there is an unwarranted deduction, i.e., since Word does not list Blogger as one of the blog services it supports, Word doesn't support Blogger. That ignores the fact that Word has an 'Other' category, and 'Other' "supports" anything that uses the MetaWebLog API. I also found this on the Blogger support site, where a Gold Product Expert says flat out "MS Word is not supported with Blogger" and recommends instead Open Live Writer. I think that is also misstated. My conclusion: Microsoft would "support" Blogger, or Blogger would "support" MS Word if Blogger used the MetaWebLog API. Though I can't find an explicit statement anywhere that Blogger does NOT support that API, it does not seem that it does.

I know that Word users have been able to use Blogger in the past, but it has always been problematic. We get a lot more questions about Blogger blogs, for example, than WordPress (and that has its own issues). The only official help Microsoft provides is the article you've doubtless already seen, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/help-with-blogging-in-word-3ad4ad8d-06a3-441d-99cd-c65e13a3433d. It's the "Register a blog account" that seems to be the sticking point. I recall that I had problems with my WordPress blog when WP changed the URL from http to https without notice.

This is a problem with Word, not with Blogger. The function does not work with any blogging system or services. Even using the Metaweblog API it gives the same error. Using blogger, typepad, wordpress, make your pick. The function is broken for 2 years. I'm not sure why Microsoft even offers the option instead of just removing it entirely. Basically Microsoft Word does not even try to connect to the URL or service you put in the account registration box. You can just leave the field blanks or put any nonsense, and you will prove it shows the same error because Word does not actually do anything. It never tries to connect.

FWIW, I have no trouble publishing to WordPress from Word 2010 (https://walkthoughts.wordpress.com/).

Older versions of Word might work. It does not work on the latest Word version or for anyone with Office 365
