Use Authy to sign into microsoft.com

I'm trying to move all my authentication from Microsoft authenticator over to Authy as the Authy one has a desktop app, whereas the Microsoft one only have a mobile app. I've changed my work accounts over (I have two of them) and both are allowing me to authenticate using either Authy or the Microsoft app, so they are working fine, but my personal account is not.

I have set up Authy on my personal account fine, but when I log in, it automatically tries to authenticate though the microsoft authenticator and does not give me the option of using anything else (..e. Authy) ?

Do you have to have 2FA turned on and passwordless sign in turned off in order for the account to verify with Authy ?

Cheers

Hello Adam, my name is Emmanuel. I'll be more than happy to assist you today!

Please make sure to properly set up the 2FA (two-factor authentication) on your Microsoft account.

To turn on/off 2FA with your Microsoft account:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

Or you may sign in to your Microsoft account from this link https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage/additional then once signed in, add the Authy as your authenticator app. If you ask a question if you want to add your account to the Microsoft account, please choose to add to another Authenticator app which will give you an option to add your account to Authy.

Another guide on how to add a Microsoft account into the Authy Authenticator app:

"Please be advised that the Authy tutorial link above which shows how to add a Microsoft account to the Authy Authenticator app is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it".

Hope this information can help you.
