Two Versions of Office Show on List of Programs and Features

I have a Windows 10 tablet and am running low on memory.  I looked to uninstall programs and see what looks like two similar Office installations, both 879 MB.  My Office programs show I am running Office Professional Plus.  Can I safely uninstall the other version, 365 Business - en-us?

Hi MarkNeuhausen,

You are correct in assuming that you should be able to uninstall the business version without interfering with the other installation and your current programs.

I hope this helps!

Hi Mark,

Yes you can. If you've not registered it on your account it is safe to do so.

Which Office version did you purchase?

365 & 2016 are completely different

Your snipe indicates both were installed on the same day, which is odd, the same size/same version - something not quite right here

After freeing up some memory and installing an Office update, both versions now show as installed today.  I agree that the same size/same version is not correct.

Safe to delete the 365 version?

Hi Mark,
If your getting a memory error it means your Win 10 is of low virtual memory that is different from your hard drive space. To correct this restart your tablet if your playing games or open and close a lot of applications sometimes the program does not release the memory used in running the program. So if your getting a Memory Low error restart you tablet. If you can do a restart as compared to a shutdown and then restart.
To find more space on your tablet. Check and see if you have Windows’ built-in Disk Cleanup utility with its default options deletes some of the temporary data, log files, and installers that Windows can build up over time

The only error message I get is that I can not do an update as I do not have enough free disk space.  My table has 64 GB of "disk" and showed under 1 GB available until I cleared out some items.

Do you have the disk Clean up utility if its windows it will usually have Disk clean up. This way it will find the temp files and delete free up space from your recycle bin.
I was always running on my daughters surface!

Yes, I used disk cleanup and let it run automatically to remove downloaded and temporary files.  I went the extra step removing past Windows updates, taking the risk that I will not need to revert back.  I ask about the Office removal as it shows ~850 MB, significant with only 5+ GB of disk space currently available.

If you have 2 versions running you can definatly uninstall one of them. The other thing to look at is are you caching your email?

Depending on the type of tablet it is if there is a slot for an SD card get one and keep you data on it or a USB stick. I set up onedrive for my dauther as I have home subscription for office 365 that gives her 1TB of online storage. That way she can do her homework on the computer and save it to onedrive and access it via her tablet.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Sam
