Hi, Cecilia Chan2
Welcome to the Microsoft Technical Support Community.
I understand that you are experiencing problems with PowerPoint.
First of all, the following information needs to be confirmed with you:
What is the file format in which the problem occurs? .pptx or .ppt or other? Current screen shot information?
Based on your description:
The file type is not supported: PowerPoint may not support the file type you are trying to open. Make sure the file format is one that PowerPoint supports (e.g. .pptx, .ppt, etc.).
Linked files are not available: If your PowerPoint presentation contains linked files, make sure that these files still exist in their original location and that the path has not changed. If the files have been moved or deleted, PowerPoint will not be able to find them.
The required application is not installed: If the file you are trying to open requires a specific application, make sure that application is installed on your device.
You can try the following steps:
Check the file format: Make sure the file you are trying to open is in a format supported by PowerPoint. If not, try converting the file format.
Update links: If the linked file is not available, try re-linking the file. Open PowerPoint, locate the object of the linked file, right-click and select “Edit Link” or “Update Link”.
Install the required application: If prompted for a specific application, make sure it is installed correctly. You can download and install the required application from the Microsoft Store or other official sources.
In addition, you can try to repair Office: Sometimes there may be problems with the Office installation, try to repair the Office installation. Open Control Panel, select Programs and Features, find Microsoft Office, right-click and select Repair.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply.

I believe you need to have at least Acrobat Reader installed to insert a PDF object.
