The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

I am getting an error "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" with Excel. That only happens when I try to open an excel doc. When I click on the Excel icon, nothing happens. 
I have the latest update of Windows 10 and Microsoft office 2016. All my docs are in my local disk.

Hi, i hope you're doing good today.

Try opening excel in safe mode.

Windows + R, then type excel.exe /safe

Disable the addins

And try opening excel in normal mode again.

If that does not work perform an Office repair
