Symbols in Word not showing correctly for all users

I have a word document (.docx) that is saved on our office server. Our office all uses Office 365 and the applications are installed locally on our individual machines. We have documents that use the degree symbol. When I open the document I see "90°F" When four of my users open the same document they see "908F". As of now, the temperature is changed from 90 to 908.

Is there a setting I can change so that everyone sees the same symbol when this document is opened?

We are all running Windows 10.

Thank you.

Thanks, Charles. Yes it appears to be a font issue from the outside user. I was able to fix how the document was seen by each user by clicking the "embed" fonts under Options. I was able to track down the mystery fonts through the font substitution search tool. This appears to have explained why everyone was seeing a different image on the same page.

My solution will be to have outside users check the option to embed fonts prior to sending us documents.

I didn't see an option to close/answer on my previous reply.

Our issue was due to other people we work with inserting symbols via different methods. I had know way of knowing that when I looked at a document other users in my office were seeing different symbols.

I have found two fixes that have helped our problem. This might be helpful to others.

1. In Options/Save: I have checked the box to embed fonts in the file. This has essentially flattened the "weird" symbols and allows them to be viewed as intended, instead of word trying to show as text.

2. The font substitution search feature was also helpful. This showed that unknown fonts were being used in the document and Word tried to match to a close font. Showing that the substitution process changed a degree symbol to a different font type text (ie 90°F to 908F).

Thanks.
