Space removed in Microsoft Office Word Document

Dear all,

I have a problem with some of my Word files. Whenever I reopen the file, I always find spaces removed between words as shown in the attached screen shot.

 

Each time it appears in different places.

This is really serious as it is very difficult for long documents to read the whole document in order to scan such errors especially that most of them are not picked up by the auto-correct option.

I do not think it is a corrupted file because it happens in several documents.

Please advise and help solving this problem noting that this is a computer connected to a network and I had the Office 2007 and Word 2010 installed recently and this problem appeared afterwards.

I assume the documents do not print this way? What do you see in Print Preview?

If this is just a display issue, one thing you might try: at File | Options | Advanced: Display, change the setting for "Optimize character positioning for layout rather than readability."

In that case, there may be a problem with the font. What font is it, and what language is applied to the text?

There was also a problem of this kind with Word 2010 documents that had been opened on Word 2007. It's not apparent whether Word 2007 has been used with this document at some stage but, if so, see: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2633585

The problem was fixed in Word 2007 with SP3. Even so, I'd have thought, though, the problem referred to in that link only applied to Word 2007 itself, and not to a Word 2010 document opened & saved in Word 2007 subsequently being re-opened in Word 2010.
