To narrow down the cause of the issue, please share back with following details for a more efficient troubleshooting.
1.Link a document in the site and see if it will disappear.
2.Link www.office.com and see if it will disappear.
3.Test if the issue will be reproduced in another SharePoint site.
4.If it is possible, ask other users with edit permission in this site and see if they will face the same issue. Otherwise, please test with various browsers and Incognito Mode as well.

Hi Mia,
1. I linked a document and it does the same thing.
2. After linking www.office.com, it displays 2 white vertical lines.
3.I cannot reproduce this issue on another site and have deleted this site and started over and it does the same thing.
4. I tried Incognito Mode as well as Firefox, Edge and Chrome and the problem still persists.
I did find that it is only occurring in edit mode and after save now. If I leave the page and come back to it, the documents and links are now visible.

As the issue will happen on a newly-created site, it is suggested to contact engineers in Support Ticket channel as they will have the escalation channel to have a deeper check on the background of your tenant, and investigate the display issue further to find the cause of the issue via the debug data. Sorry that forum engineers here have limited resources on this kind of performance issue that can not be reproduced on our side, which make it looks more like the issue may be related with a specific tenant.
