We have a user who lost their phone and now can't auth with Office 365; We have turned 2FA off for the user which solves the immediate problem, but we can't figure out how to delete the existing 2FA settings so we can set the user up on their new phone.

Answer

Hello Mathew,

To delete the existing 2FA settings for this user, please follow the instructions below:

1. Go to Azure Active Directory Admin Center. You can find it under Office 365 Admin Center -> Admin Center -> Azure Active Directory.

2. Choose Users, then click on the user name of the affected user.

3. Choose Authentication methods under Manage. Click Revoke MFA sessions. Please also delete all the contact info manually. Then save.

Next time the affected user signs in, he will be prompted to enter the 2FA info again. Hope the information above helps!

Regards,

Rick
