Hi Etuen,

Would you please help confirm if you installed the Skype for Business standalone version? If yes, please refer to the following steps to uninstall it from your computer.

  1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program.
  2. Choose Skype for Business > Uninstall. If you don't see Skype for Business listed, then you're using a version that's integrated with other Office 365 apps. The only way to uninstall it is to remove all of Office from your computer.
  3. At the Ready to uninstall? box, choose Uninstall.
  4. When it's done uninstalling, choose Close.

However, the Skype for Business is part of your Office 365 package, it could not be uninstalled partly. In this situation, please check if you  set Skype for Business  start automatically.

  1. In Skype for Business, choose the tools icon and Tools > Options.
  2. Choose Personal, then uncheck Automatically start the app when I log on to Windows and Start the app in the foreground. Then choose OK.
  3. Choose File > Exit.

Best regards,

Coldwell

Hi Etuen,

Thanks for your clarification. Please try the following method to disable Skype for Business automatically in the Windows system setting to see it is helpful.

  1. Navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, then check if Skype for Business is listed there, if yes, just remove it from the list.
  2. Click Start> Run in your computer, then type regedit in the search box and click the button OK to access the registry edit on your computer.  In the registry edit windwo, naviate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, then chckc if the item named Lync listed there, if yes, just delete it.

At last, make sure your Skype for Business is close and restart your computer to see how it goes.

Best regards,

Coldwell

Hi Etuen,

Thanks for your patience. We did further investigation on our side. As far as we know, there is a known issue about "could not turn off auto startup for Skype for Business in Windows" and it is in the process of investigation. You may keep Skype for Business the latest version to access the fix during update in the future. I know it is annoying, as Skype for Busniess is aprt of your Office package, we are unbale to uninstalled it apartly.

Best regards,

Coldwell
