Recover a word document that has completely disappeared and gone back to the old version.

I had a word file opened and left it open overnight, when I opened my laptop up this morning it was updating and restarted, closing all the windows I had open. When it switched back on I lost all the changes I made to that word doc and it opened the original document. I've looked through the recycle bin, tried to look for different versions and have tried to look for recovery files but nothing has come up. I won't be able to open the recovery drive because I don't have admin permissions.

Hello Amine O, I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you. I understand that you are having issues with Microsoft word documents. Word provides us with such good features as AutoSave and Auto Recover. If they are enabled, it won't be a problem for you to recover unsaved files and restore previous versions. a. From Microsoft Word. 1. From the list of recent documents within the word. Go to FILE -> Open. Choose Recent Workbooks. Scroll down and click on the Recover Unsaved Workbooks button at the bottom of the list. When the Open dialog box pops up, just select the necessary file and click Open. The document will open in Excel and the program will prompt you to save it. Click on the Save As button in the yellow bar above your worksheet and save the file to the desired location. A. AutoRecovery in Microsoft Word serves as a backup to save the document and any updates as you are working. By default, AutoRecovery will save your document every 10 minutes; Check the AutoRecover File Location for recent files - C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\ b. OneDrive Online. 1. Go to www.onedrive.com/ and sign in with your Microsoft account. 2. Check or download the files to the desktop and option it. c. Check in the Recycle Bin (Trash). (Both desktop and in OneDrive bin) d. Restore OneDrive to earlier versions. https://support.microsoft.com/help/fa231298-759d-41cf-bcd0-25ac53eb8a15 Best regards, Gunasekar N
