Hi Anish I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself. It is possible that something went wrong when setting up your OneDrive account, and the default folders got created in a different language. You can try changing the language settings of your OneDrive account to see if that resolves the issue. If not, clear OneDrive cached credentials Windows: Select Start, type "credentials," and then select Credentials Manager. Select the Windows Credentials tab. Under Generic Credentials, look for any entries containing “OneDrive Cached Credentials” and remove them. Restart OneDrive. Mac: From Spotlight search type “keychain” and select "Keychain Access”. If it's not visible in Spotlight, go to the Utilities folder and open Keychain Access from there. Search for “OneDrive.” Delete “OneDrive Cached Credential.” Run OneDrive. If these workarounds don't resolve the issue, please uninstall and reinstall OneDrive: I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions. I doubt it was resolved. The Independent Advisor, like most support forums like this, gave a robotic and stereotypical response that usually does not represent the issue the person actually had.

I have noticed others posting about this issue and I have also had this issue this morning:

Image

This was created a short while ago in a folder that has been used thousands of times. This is not an issue of font settings or langauge settings. When looking at who created the folder, it shows my own username despite me being incapable of actually entering those keys.

In addition to this problem, I have also been seeing the Documents folder frequently become duplicated (though empty) under a variety of languages. I have seen Spanish and some European languages so far.

I confirm the same behaviour.

First I saw folder in German "Dokumente" where all my settings are English.

Deleted, only to find the next day a new folder called "Documents" in French

Same procedure then again in arabic

Activity report only gave me an automatic sync (NAS at home) and my manual web logons.

I thought that I was hacked... After doing the essentials, not hacked.

So stopped my NAS syncware suspecting something there.

Nothing found.

A month later tried again fully manual desktop copy of a few folders and there it was again...

Very annoying

W

It seems everyone is having this around a similar time period so I am leaning toward a software bug being the cause.

I also had "Dokumente" but did not know it was German. I also had "Documentos" and a couple of others I can't remember. I was also getting "Documents 1" every single day since I already have an existing and used folder named "Documents". This issue is still ongoing every day and usually more than once in a day.

Hi,

Same for me, time to time I have this bloody folder "Dokumente" coming out with no reason. I delete it straight and come back a while later, depending, one week, one month, no rule.

I try to check all but nothing really matter. Credentials for Onedrive is a single entry, my local PC. I have nothing in my Personal Onedrive from computer side.

One day solution will be there,.... hopefully

I have the same issue but worst. I had that folder too but my important files have been deleted. Not to be seen anywhere even in the recycle bin. That research paper is so valuable but thankfully I have a copy in my phone's internal storage because I used that to print. A lot of progress has been lost. My trust in OneDrive is plummeted. If there is a Microsoft Agent who reads this, please get me my latest files back. Thank you!

I am still having the same issue but luckily you had another copy. Is your account listed as the owner of the folder in question? If not, the owner’s recycle bin is where deleted stuff appears.

Either way, our office uses OneDrive for business purposes. A few times a day I copy all data to another drive as a backup. I’ve used OneDrive for too long and realize things can and will go wrong so it’s best to have extra backups.

I wouldn’t use OneDrive if it were up to me. But we have far too many offices using it and trained with it that it would probably be too much effort to switch at this point.

I've had this same issue last week and again today. It's nothing to do with the set up and I've been using OneDrive for many years. Random empty folders with an Asian style text title are being created and also a folder titled @ . I'm not sure if the Asian text is a real word or not.

The folders appear to be empty and I delete them as soon as I see them.

I think this issue requires further investigation.
