Quick Access Toolbar -- Keep It Visible

I have Word 2016. I'd like to keep the Quick Access Toolbar visible while I'm working, but it keeps minimizing so I keep having to click on the "home" tab over and over.  I find this annoying. FAQs say there's a box to check somewhere to minimize the toolbar, and I keep looking for it so that I can uncheck it, but I can't find it.

You say the QAT is disappearing?  Or do you mean the actual "Ribbon"?

The QAT is the single row of user defined buttons that default to display above the ribbon tabs.

The Ribbon is the wide, up to 3 rows of buttons, user interface defined by MS, accessed through several tabs.

Strange, on my system, even when the Ribbon is minimized the QAT continues to display.  Recently I've started displaying the QAT below the ribbon to give it more room to work with.
