Powerpoint Record slideshow feature not working.

Welcome to community. I go through the post carefully. It seems like there is no response when you click Record Slide Show button in PowerPoint. Thanks for letting us know the steps you have tried to troubleshoot the issue.

When I test in PowerPoint version 2102(Build 13801.20864) Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel of PowerPoint, click Record Slide Show button works and it opens the Record screen,

For troubleshooting and have a better understanding of the scenario, could you please confirm information below?

1.Generally the Record Slide Show button appears in Slide Show tab, Set Up group.

According to the screenshot you shared, it seems like you added Record Slide Show button in Home tab. May I know if my understanding is right?

If yes, may I know if you have Record Slide Show button in Slide Show tab? If yes, does it work?

( I also add Record Slide Show button in Home tab, it works when I click it.)

2.If you click the arrow as below to expand options in Record Slide Show, does it work if you click "Record from Current Slide" or "Record from Beginning"?

3.Did it work before? If yes, when does the issue start to happen? After you update Office?

Record Slide Show button appears in Slide Show tab, but it is not working here as well.

No it is not working.

3. Did it work before? If yes, when does the issue start to happen? After you update Office?

Yes it used to work before. Issue started in the August month end. No it is not after any update.

Thanks for posting back and sharing the detailed information with us.

You may try following ways to troubleshoot the issue and check the outcome:

1.There is a new version released, 2102(build 13801.20960). You may update Office via File>Account>Update Options>Update Now. Then check if issue still appears.

2.Try to open PowerPoint in safe mode. Safe mode helps you determine if the issue is caused by any PowerPoint add-ins.

In safe mode, the Record Slide Show button may not appear in Home tab. But you may also go to Slide Show tab and see if clicking Record Slide Show will work.

3.Try Online Repair Office. Online repair will do a complete repair; it will take a few minutes to repair Office applications.

1. We have checked that we have the latest version - Version 2102 (Build 13801.20960)

2. We have already checked this in safe mode and the issue is still same in safe mode.

3. As mentioned earlier, we have repaired and re-installed the Office package but still issue persists.

Please let us know the fix for this.

To further troubleshoot the issue, you may also try to perform a clean boot in Windows, then test if Record Slide Show works. Clean boot helps you determine whether any background program is causing the issue.

In addition, if it's convenient, you may try to switch to a different user account and then log in Windows. Test in PowerPoint and check the outcome. This will help you check if issue only happens in a particular Windows user profile. For reference: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10
