PowerPoint does not show some countries when creating a map. Same countries are missing when creating a map in Excel

Hi all,

I am using Office 365 on Windows 11. When I insert a map, some countries are not being shown on the map. Even the countries that are set as examples by PowerPoint itself. On top to the map is an information saying "We have drawn 75% of the locations from your data with high confidence."

When I change the background of the map, I can see that the countries are not being displayed as white, they are not being displayed at all. There is no difference , when I change the positions of the countries in the table. E.g. Australia is always displayed at any postion with any data given, while France and Germany are never displayed.

Changing the language has not led to a solution either. In Excel the same countries are not being shown, when I create a map there.

A Microsoft Support Member also tried resolving the issue but did not succeed. I also reinstalled Office already.

I hope someone has an idea.

Thank you in advance!

Hello Joannis G.,

Welcome to Microsoft community!

I understand that some countries or regions do not show up in PowerPoint or Excel when you create a map, and I understand how you feel about this and would be happy to help you. It is normal that you experience this phenomenon, often users from different countries have similar problems and different countries disappear. Because it involves some country permissions and security information issues, he will not show all the countries,

we suggest you try to manually insert the missing countries, this will solve your problem.

We look forward to hearing back from you. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks for your support and patience.

Best regards

Hi Isabella,

and thank you for your response! I tried inserting the countries manually, but it did not resolve the issue. When I enter e.g. "Germany" or "France" the countries are still not displayed.

When doing so in Excel I can even open a "Bing fact book" about the country by clicking on a small symbol that is displayed next to the countries name - when I declare it to be geographical information. It will even change the name automatically when I enter it in another language.

They are still not being displayed. Interestingly in Excel now France is being displayed while Australia is not. As you can see Canada is missing although it has never been added any data in my example below.

When clicking on the data for France in the example, Excel will show some options for this kind of data on the right (see below).

... while clicking on the data for Australia results in Excel saying there is no data for this entry (see below).

Best regards

Joannis

It's a bug, I can repro it here. Please choose File>Feedback>Send a Frown in PowerPoint. If you first create a sample slide with your screen shots, you can send a screenshot with your bug report. Submitting sends the message to the PowerPoint programming team. They are unlikely to reply.
