PowerPoint: disable right click editing font menu

Hello,

I would disable the menu displayed below but I cannot find his name in the list of MSO id (controls id of ribbon).

Do you know the name of that control?

Thank you.

You can disable these in the registry. Assuming you are confident playing with registry keys.

Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Toolbars\PowerPoint

Create a Dword AllowMenuFloaties and set the value to zero.

Set to 1 to enable again.

NOTE This will kill ALL floatie Menus not just the one you mention.

Under Customize the Ribbon this is the Home tab (click on the + sign) and you can remove "Fonts" if I understand correctly that this is what you want to do.

Hi,

I am looking for a way to deactivate/disable the right click context menu in PowerPoint 2010/365.

For the editing font menu it works with the registry entry

Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Toolbars\PowerPoint
Create a Dword AllowMenuFloaties and set the value to zero.
Set to 1 to enable again.
NOTE This will kill ALL floatie Menus not just the one you mention.

Does anybody know, how it works for the main right click context menu? There must be also a dword

As far as I know it is not possible to disable the right click menu. Using XML code it IS possible to alter the content.

For example

If you add a CustomUI14 part with this code then Cut and Copy do not appear.

<customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2009/07/customui">
  <contextMenus >
    <!--This is the right click menu-->
    <contextMenu idMso="ContextMenuShape"  >
      <!--Buttons to hide-->
      <control idMso="Cut" visible="0"/>
      <control idMso="Copy" visible="0"/>
    </contextMenu>
  </contextMenus>
</customUI>

Obviously you would need to have a certain amount of code skill!

is using an xml the only possible way to alter the menu? Or what would it look like in C# or VB.Net ( or VBA)?

if

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Toolbars\PowerPoint,
Create a Dword AllowMenuFloaties and set the value to zero.

works for the right click editing font menue, there must be a possibility to add another Dword with a special name (my mindset)

Where did you get the idea to create a dwork with the name "AllowMenuFloaties"?

I don't think so. My guess in MSFT see the floater as an "extra" and the right click context as a basic control. In any case I have never seen a key that kill the main right click menu.

As I mentioned you can change the controls available fairly easily if you know how to add XML to the presentation (Not too hard if you use the CustomUI Editor tool which is free)
