Paste options vanished in Word 2016

Hello, 

I have MS Office via a yearly subscription to OneDrive on a Win 10 Pro laptop. 

I have an issue where if I copy some spreadsheet cells into a blank Word document all the (other) paste options have vanished.  I used to have about 5 options but now I only have the one. 

So basically if I format my spreadsheet (borders etc), when pasted into Word it's just the plain text. 

I tried starting Word in safe mode but could not paste anything at all. 

Any ideas?

Also tried these: 

Deleted the registry key 

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Data

Online reset of Word. 

Neither worked. 

I'm fairly perplexed as to why such fundamental functionality and just up and vanish from what 

should be a robust and mature product...

We need to determine why you no longer have the Paste Options feature when pasting data into a Word document from an Excel worksheet. Before we proceed, we would be needing additional information to have a better view on this concern. Kindly answer the following questions:

  • Did you make any changes on the computer before you encountered this issue?
  • When did you notice this issue?
  • Does the issue happen when copying and pasting data from a different Office application (e.g., PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook)?
  • Have you also tried copying and pasting text from a different application (e.g., Internet Explorer and Edge)? If so, did you experience the same issue?

Apologies for the delay in responding, I have been off work. 

To my knowledge I did not make any changes that would cause this, I've not installed any new software and don't use any 

Office add-ons.   

I don't use PowerPoint or OneNote.  I do have a need to transfer a range of cells from Excel 2016 into Outlook (or Word) and have 

the formatting honoured when the cells are pasted. 

When copying from Chrome or IE the formatting also get "lost". 

Speaking to my colleagues they also say this happens from time to time.  I really can't understand why such basic 

functionality just seems to vanish from the latest version of flagship products such as this.
