Outlook Password Prompt Keeps Popping Up

For the past few days, a password prompt for Outlook keeps popping up. The password is pre-populated so I can check cancel or ok and it will disappear, only to show up again a few minutes later.  I recently had to change my email password so that may have something to do with it, but I have updated password in account settings.

Some notes....

I have Outlook 2016 running on WIndows 8

My email account is a IMAP yahoo account

I have checked credentials manager.... there are not "outlook" accounts listed

I have tried to check security settings under account settings, but I see no tab called security

Please help... this is driving me crazy!

You access your Yahoo mail account via web browser access, and in its settings thats where you change the password, it that is an option

Credentials manager would not list an 'outlook' account unless you were using an outlook.com mail account, so dont fiddle with Credentials Manager

In the first instance repair Office via Control Panel

Leigh,

Palcouk above is absolutely correct.  I have had this in the past and usually you can get rid of the message by going to>File>Account Settings>Account Settings>Change>Next>OK (make sure that you have the correct password and the box ticked for saving it).  This is for Outlook 2013 but I think it is the same with Outlook 2016.
