Outlook for Android IMAP connection from work, going through MS server, not direct from device to server

As of two weeks ago I'm now on Android from Windows 10 Mobile.  Wow, what a change.  Really hating just about everything.  I'm finally getting things configured as I want and am trying to keep as many MS services as possible.

What I've discovered today is that after I set up Outlook IMAP for my work email, it's connecting to my server via 52.125.136.103(a Microsoft server), NOT directly from my device.

At this moment, I'm 192.168.1.3 on my WLAN and 107.77.197.26 mobile data.  I just watched 52.125.136.103 connect to my mail server and new mail notification pop up on my phone.

I'm two seconds away from uninstalling Outlook and seriously reconsidering my commitment to MS.  There's -zero- reason for my information to route through a secondary server.

Yes, Outlook from play store.

Our mail server is located 50 feet from my office.  I'm remoted into the server and can watch connections live.

I just noticed the same thing when connecting to my own mail server using the outlook client for android.

The connection comes from a Microsoft IP rather than the IP of my phone on it's 4G network.

Seriously dodgy.  Will not be using the Android version of Outlook until Microsoft comment. (not been able to find anyone discussing this other than here so far though).

I'm brand new to Android(as in, my 360 hours for my Mi 9 unlock was just completed last night, previous phones were Lumia 950, 920, Samsung Focus).  Has the android outlook app always done this or is it something new with v3.0.55?

Got a reply back from support.  I'll have to uninstall Outlook now.  A man-in-the-middle server is not what is expected when you enter in your server credentials.

It's worse.  I uninstalled and rebooted about 40 minutes ago.  I'm still getting connections from the same MS server.  I've pulled all MS apps off my phone except for Your Phone Companion.

The more times I see MS's server connect to my mail server, the more angry I'm getting.  I don't even know where to go to stop it and to notify other users to the security risk.

Weird.  I removed the account from outlook and the connections dropped off from my server.
