Outlook asks me to select account to send email from but shows no options

With Office Outlook 2016 on Windows 10, if I click on an email address of a person copied on an email, instead of dropping that address into the "To" field, it gives me a blue screen that says, "Choose which account to send the email from," shows no options and only has the word "Cancel" below it.  This same situation works fine on older machines running Windows 7, but not on new Lenovo running Outlook 2016 under Windows 10.  Made sure Outlook is set as the default for email, so I am out of ideas.

Please note: in my question I indicated that this is only email account on the system and it is labeled the default account.  So, changing the default account is not the issue.

I went to the Office updates section and got the message that all my apps are up to date.

Went to run the "repair" option and saw that it will run the repair on all programs within Office.  I am a little reluctant to do so, since this is more a minor annoyance than a big issue, and I am afraid it will change something in my other Office programs that work just fine.   Right now, I just look at the person's email and type it into the "To" field instead of clicking on the link.  That's inefficient, but at least it gets me there.  I would just like it to work like it does on my 2 other PCs that are running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7.  For those, I just click on the person's email, it drops it into the "To" field and I am good to go.

It asked me if I wanted to start Outlook in safe mode.  I did.  It took me to Outlook and had a very different look to the Inbox than usual.  I opened an email that had another email embedded in it.  Clicked on it and it took me to the same blue screen as before saying, "Choose which account to send email from," and only a box with the word "Cancel."

Hi Nick_885

In Outlook 2016 in Windows 10 should work the same, I just made the tests on my computer and it works as desired, from the folder received emails select a message from a user, once this message opened, position the mouse over the email address and a small window was opened and select the mail icon that shows and automatically the window of sending a new mail with the address of the user selected in the "for" box was opened.

So it should work if it does not work as described above, I recommend you do the repair of Office, so you should not fear nothing will happen to the other applications only repairs problems.

Best Regards
Yohandi
