Opening embedded documents in word

Hi,

I frequently get word documents (eg and agenda) with embedded pdf files in them. I am unable to open the pdf files on my mac or on my ipad.

I am running office 365 on all devices.

Have you got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Duncan

Answer
Answer

Yes.

Word for Mac can't display embedded PDF files.

Here's what to do to get the PDF file. (Requires Stuffit, which is free)

  1. In Finder, change the file extension from .dotx to .zip
  2. Right-click the zip file and choose Open With > Stuffit 16
  3. Nagivate the Word folder to the Embeddings folder
  4. Drag the PDF file to your desktop
  5. Double-click the PDF file to open it in Preview or your default PDF viewer

Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.
