OneNote sync error 0xE0000024 bdf5h

Hi Tisky,

i've the same problem, but didn't get a solution following your steps. 

When I try to manually sync, sometimes I've got a code of the error, sometimes I don't. 

Now (after doing what you explained) the error code is 

0xE0000024 bdf5h

Hi Stuart,

Since the problem only happens on OneNote for Mac, we suggest you try the following steps to clear the OneNote credential and check the result.

1. Quit from all Mac Office Applications, except for OneNote.

2. In OneNote, sign out. This only logs you out, and all the notebooks will still be there.

3. Quit OneNote.

4. Launch "Keychain Access" and search for all items that contain "Office15". There should be only a couple items, one for each account you have logged into.

The name will be a long alpha-numeric code and the kind will start with MicrosoftOffice15…”

6. Delete these items. It is only deleting the authentication credentials, no data. Once you sign in again, they will be re-created.

7. Launch OneNote and sign into your accounts.

Since all the office apps share the credentials (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) you will have to sign in again with those apps as well.

Thanks for the query and we are here to assist you on this. 

Please first backup the notes that have not been synced up to OneNote Online. Then you may try closing the notebook, quit OneNote and then open the notebooks from the cloud location in OneNote 2016, see if you still get the same issue. To do this, follow the steps below:

     1. Close all the notebooks in OneNote. 

         a. Click the Show Notebooks icon.

         b. In the list of notebooks, hold the Control key while clicking the name of the notebook you want to close.

     2. On the menu that appears, click Close This Notebook. Repeat the steps to close all the notebooks.

     3. Quit OneNote

     4. Sign in to OneDrive or OneDrive for business

     5. Open the notebook in OneNote online and click Open in OneNote.

If the issue persists, please provide the following information:

  1. Please confirm the version information from affected OneNote app. To confirm, in OneNote, go to the OneNote menu and choose About OneNote.
  2. A screenshot of complete error.
  3. Are you the owner of the affected notebook or they are shared with you by someone else?
  4. Are you using a Microsoft account (e.g. ***@outlook.com)?
