OneNote for Windows 10 creates shortcuts in main OneDrive folder that I can't move

I am using the OneNote app in Windows 10. When I create a Notebook, a weblink is created in my main OneDrive file. I don't want the main OneDrive file to be filled with these links, but if I move them to a folder, the notebook can no longer sync. How can I get around this?
Hi Jordan,
If you close the notebook then move the link and reopen the notebook (using the new link), does it work?

Those links are created where the notebooks are created. Don't touch them.

Diane,

I do think that solves the sync issue. However, I am not able share the notebook. Maybe a different issue?

If you could share the notebooks before and now can't then it is related. If you open the notebook in OneNote online, can you share it?

You can create or move notebooks in/to non standard folders (using OneNote for Windows 10) only by using the Web GUI of OneDrive.

In OneNote 2016 you can use File --> New to create a notebook in another folder:

So if I have OneNote for Windows 10 the process to create a Notebook in a file is to create using the app and then move the file using the WebGUI of OneDrive? Seems like that could be improved..

In particular the procedure would be:

  1. create the notebook in OneNote
  2. close the notebook (you'll kill its path now !)
  3. move it on OneDrive
  4. re-open the notebook in OneNote

It's easier to go this way:

  1. create a new empty notebook on OneDrive where you want
  2. open it in OneNote
