Onenote 2016 Login infinity loop

I suggest you to Login to OneNote app and check whether the issue reoccurs.

Sorry for late reply. I only install One Note 2016. I am upgrading from one note 2013 free version. I only have license for onenote 2010. I do not purchase other license since it is free for 2013 version above.

I am using win 7 64 bit service pack 1. Due to internet data concern, not all update are installed. I only select those important update only.

I have the exact same problem with OneNote.

I am using Office 2007 without Onenote.

I installed the latest version Onenote 2016 (32bit) from onenote.com

Upon launching Onenote it asked me to login. I logged in using my hotmail account as usual and it came back to the screen asking me to login again.

Could you please help?

Other Office application is working fine.

I do have the same exact issue.

I completed a brand new fresh install of WIndows 7 (x64) and Microsoft Office 2016 (x64) on my laptop.  I performed the new fresh install hoping that the issue will be resolved.  Unfortunatly this is not the case.

All Office 2016 products cannot log into my Microsoft account.  Each time I sign in, the process never complete but no errors are displayed of indicated.

Can you help.

Thanks for getting back to us. Please find my answer for my scenrario below

1. I can sign in to Office.com & Hotmail. Using OneNote 2016 on my personal laptop is fine.

The problem occurs when I tried to launch OneNote 2016 on my work machine which is connected to a work domain.

Please note this is a standalone version which was obtained from onenote.com

2. Yes I am connected to the Internet.

3. Below is the exact stesp

a. Click on OneNote icon

b. OneNote asked me to sign in using a Microsoft account

c. Click Sign in. A new window opened up asking you to login

d. Enter hotmail account to login. No error meaning the password was fine.

The login windows closed and Onenote return to Login screen in the original post. Nothing seem to have happened

Hi all,

I do have exactly the same issue.  I did try the same configuration on a Windows 10 system and the problem never occurs.  This only happens on Windows 7 systems and Office 2016.

Hope this helps a little in the resolution.

Even we were facing the same issue and tried searching for a solution everywhere on blogs, microsoft community but no solution. Finally tried below fix and one note is working fine now on my windows 7:

1. We had Internet explorer version 8(by default)

2. Just updated the Internet Explorer to Version 9 (though we guess even higher version like 10 and 11 should have same effect)

3. Tried signing IN from onenote app...It worked !
