OneDrive sync delay

Hello,

I have same issue as MT_12345 but when dragging a folder to share point. Folder do not weight too much, only 130MB but containing like 4000 files inside. You can try to sync single 130MB file without issue, always when trying to sync folders with thousand small files, this issue persist. Whats most annoying, this happening mostly during normal (UK) working hours and collaboration is not possible. Pausing and resuming not helping. Uploading same files during night time do not see that issue, hence its trolling on Microsoft site.

Based on your detailed information and description, we assume this issue relater your upload speed of PC, we want to share this article with you which may provide some help. Maximize upload and download speed

However, may I know that does the issue occurs when you upload files in batches? Because the issue seems only happen in working hours. 

  

Meantime, you can try these steps to try to fix this issue:

1.  Try to reset your Onedrive.

Windows Key+R -> Copy the below and paste and Enter
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

2. Change a Internet in daytime then try to upload files again. To determine if the network speed affects this issue.

3. In OneDrive settings-> Settings-> uncheck ”Files On-Demand” option.

 

Moreover, if it’s possible, can you please confirm with your colleagues whether they have the same issue. It will help us understand this issue better.

 Maximize upload and download speed - All checked, nothing help.

- Resetting, reinstalling OneDrive, no improvement.

- No chance to change internet during day time, how? when you got only one in office?

- The network is 1Gbps and Internet speed on my computer when tested set to guaranteed 100/100 Internet speed hence its not Internet speed issue.

As a notice, this happens when trying to sync more than 500 files in one than throttling is applied. Tried to upload some files after 6 pm and no throttling. Looks like Microsoft is applying this in normal working hours that is unacceptable, especially when users are not informed about that in first place. I will understand throttling if will be sending GB's of data, but not MB's....

And no real solution for this.

Mealtime, as this issue happens in work time, we suggest you make a confirmation with IT admin of your company, to check whether they set some related policy to control the numbers of upload files.

Re. Log files (private message) - need to be more precise, as there is 102MB of log files there.

I have installed Insider version of OneDrive now (21/11 9:45), and will see if that improve as version that I have was 19.174.0902.9913 (latest), but not rolling out version 19.192.0926.0012. Now is 19.202.1013.0006

I will advise if this issue repeat itself, however all files been uploaded now, and will not have anytime soon any job to upload like thousand of small files I think.

Thanks for your efforts on this case.

As there are many logs in this folder and we are restricted to do remote session with you. it’s hard to say which logs have the matter information about the sync issue. Considering you are using insider version, you can check the result after suing different version of OneDrive.

Hard to say as most of folders that contain lot of small files been dropped to OneDrive/Sharepoint. Only single files are in use now, as we working in cloud now, hence will be hard to check, but will keep looking.

As read over the internet, that's common issue with OneDrive and folders that contain many files below 50kB.. After like 400-500 files in one run this Delay message appear. The only advice that I found was to sync in batched, that is not a real solution.

For now I am sorted (even that is not resolved). When will have some more examples will let you know.

And as we speak, the issue repeat itself but slightly in different scenario. Dropped 1 file 14.1MB into sharepoint via onedrive app and got following error. And that's in insider build.

We are aware that you have the similar issue in insider version when uploading many small size of files. But it works normally when you upload files in batch.
