onedrive pin a location widget loses labels

I used the OneDrive widget to pin a folder to my home screen. After a being period of time the label for the widget curbed from the folder name to simply saying "OneDrive".

I have re-added the widget several times as also created others. On creation everything looks fine then some time later (not sure how long, could be hours or days) the label disappears. Once I have seen it return only to disappear again.

I have reported it to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** almost a month ago but not yet had a reply.

Phone is Samsung S20+5G.

Android version 12.

Hello TonyEssi,

Welcome to Microsoft community.

For your question, I would like to suggest that you try adding the OneDrive widget to another screen screen instead of the home screen and then see if the situation happens again.

For your issue, I also tested it, but after a few hours the issue did not appear.

I will continue to monitor this. In the meantime, I look forward to hearing from you about the results of your testing.

Sincerely,

Mavis - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

Hi Mavis, thanks for looking into this. I have only just noticed your reply.

Unfortunately problem persists even after following your instructions. Please see below.

2/10/22 4:31. Followed instructions.  Created total 7 new widgets, to various folders into home screen page  5. Grouped three together into  an Android (oneUI?) folder.  Two from same parent folder as others, the others from higher up the folder tree.

Noticed that the original ones have now changed icons from the onedrive icon to the pinned folder icon, i.e. the folder icon with the onedrive icon in bottom rhs. However the labels all still say 'Onedrive'.

Note: haven't yet opened any of the newly created ones.

Opened one of the existing ones and navigated various folders from there before exiting.  No change!

3/10/22 6:40 Noticed that all the onedrive widgets have again changed to the OneDrive icon and all labels now say 'OneDrive'

Created three new ones.  One to onedrive home, other two to folders. Each gets the correct icon and label i.e House icon for home, and folder forcothers, each with the onedrive, icon on bottom rhs.

Regards

Tony

Update:

Following my previous update I noticed that the widget icons were stable for several days

I realised that all the widgets were individually arranged on the home screen page. It occurred to me that perhaps the problem may be related to having them grouped in a home page folder - which is the way I had them previously. I will have quite a few, so do want to group them.

Having moved two of the test ones to a folder, leaving one on its own, I have now noticed that the widget icons and labels are once again incorrect on both the ones in folder and the one on the homescreen.

The home app is One UI v 4.1

Hello TonyEssi,

I am glad to receive your reply again. And added a detailed explanation in the reply.

For your current question, I would like you to share screenshots of the widget interface at the time of creation and screenshots of the widget interface at the time of the problem to me? This will make it easier to compare and analyze.

Also, have you tried testing with other devices? Do other devices have the same problem? We still don't have the problem from our side of the test.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Mavis - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

After those problems I had started to use Microsoft launcher instead. I decided to go back to using the Samsung one in order to help track down possible cause.

I was beginning to think that it had gone away becayse it took a few days for the problem to reappear.

The widgets have been on their own page - one on its own and two in a folder. Am attaching before and after images.

Hi TonyEssi,

Since we were unable to reproduce your issue, we would like to suggest that you try uninstalling and reinstalling the OneDrive application to test if it works.

If the problem persists after reinstallation, then you may still need to take advantage of OneDrive's built-in feedback feature in order to give feedback on this issue.

Sincerely,

Same issue happens to us. Tested on Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 with Android 12 and OneUI 4.1.1. All OneDrive pin folder widget labels (and icon) default to 'OneDrive' after some period of time (hours or days).

This is also happening to me on multiple Android phones. It occurs after restarting my phone. This is probably what is happening to the others they just don't realize because they don't check right after restarting.
