Office Communicator 2007 R2 fails to connect. certificate presented by the server was not trusted due to validation error 0x80090325

Dear Microsoft Community

I have searched and found a few suggestions on the error: "Communicator could not connect securely to server xxxxx.domain.com because the certificate presented by the server was not trusted due to validation error 0x80090325.  The issuing certificate authority (CA) for the server's certificate may not be locally trusted by the client, the certificate may be revoked, or the certificate may have expired.

I have removed all relevant certificates via MMC snap in and added a newly issued certificate to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. I have tried all sorts of combinations - adding it to Personal, to Trusted Publisher etc. but cannot get past the same presenting error on event viewer. From OCS it pops up "There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server. Please contact your system administrator.

I was working fine on OCS for about 10 months after which it presented with the error. I suspect a change was made on the server. A new certificate was created for me - i deleted all old versions and installed the new. No joy.

I'm a contractor working on my own pc. I'm on Win 7 64bit runnning Office 2010. This is really frustrating. Is there a way to find real root cause and resolve it?

Best regards
David
