office 365 word will not start

I have restarted the computer,  reinstalled office 365, removed several HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT files as well as removed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE FILES.

The system comes up and says that that it failed to shut down properly and ask about opening in safe mode.  I have tried it both ways. In safe mode the screen goes to the Starting.... yet does not go any further.  In safe mode it says that it had a error.

Please help.

I'd suggest doing an online repair of the installation.

The instructions to follow to do this are here:

Hi Tina, follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features
Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications
At the top, click 'Change'
On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the online repair, it is a comprehensive fix
